Chicken Shed Theatre
Mary Ward and Jo Collins first met in 1974. Their common love of theatre and belief in fostering creativity in everyone led to the formation of a theatre company beginning life in an old chicken shed, with an initial membership of 30.
Thirty years on, at the pinnacle of Chicken Shed, sits a permanent professional theatre company. Its exceptional work, seen throughout the year at our own theatre and other prestigious venues sets the standards and qualities from which every other aspect of Chicken Shed flows.
Camden People's Theatre
Camden people's theatre was founded back in 1994 by a group of theatre practitioners interested in developing a collaborative working method and a visual, gestural style of performance.
While there is no longer a resident company as such at the venue, cpt continues to generate its own work as well as to forge short and long-term relationships with a diverse range of companies and artists. The venue is still run by practicing artists and few venues can match our depth of involvement in our specialist field of visual, physical and collaboratively-made theatre.
Battersea Arts Centre
The Grade II* listed building which houses BAC, designed in 1891 by EW Mountford, first opened as Battersea Town Hall in 1893. In 1980, BAC was born.
Renovations were made inside the building, transforming former council chambers into theatre, studio, workshop and gallery spaces. In 1993, the buildings centenary year marked with a weekend of celebrations, BAC took over the running of the Grand and Lower Halls.
