Known as the National Museum of
Art and Design, the museum is packed with displays of dresses
and fashion through the ages. The museum is home to a huge
collection of glass from early Egyptian perfume jars to
modern avant-garde collections.
The Victoria and Albert Museum's family programmes are designed
to encourage adults and children to learn more about the
collections and exhibitions by working together in a fun and
and engaging way. Most activities are free and drop-in, which
means you can stay for as long or as short a time as you like.
The museum shops have various
books, stationery, gifts and jewellery. Shop 1 also includes the
Crafts Council shop, Shop 2 relates to the current major
exhibition and Shop 3 is particularly suitable for children and
school groups.
There are a range of food
venues to suit all tastes, from the ornate Gamble Room to the
main Café. All dishes are made from fresh ingredients and
include hot dishes, salads, sandwiches, pastries and cakes, as
well as hot and cold drinks, wine and beer. The Café is also
open for late suppers on Wednesdays.
The Museum has a wide range of
services for disabled visitors including full access to all the
galleries.
