Introduction to St Paul's Cathedral, London

One of the most striking features of St Paul's Cathedral, is the magnificent Dome which at night when floodlit lights up the city Skyline.

Amazingly the Cathedral survived the Blitz when all around it was levelled by German bombs and as such has ever since held a special place in the hearts of Londoners.

The Cathedral as it is know was designed by Sir Christopher Wren, who was commissioned  to rebuild the cathedral after the Great Fire of 1666.

The Cathedral has seen many great moments in British history including the funerals of Lord Nelson and Winston Churchill as well as happier times such as the wedding of Prince Charles to lady Diana Spencer.

There is so much history and superb architecture to see when you visit the dome, however the highlight of any visit to St Paul's must be to climb to the dome, it is a step climb up a long spiral staircase with the reward for those that complete the climb being the best views in London.
