Introduction to Cabinet War Rooms, London
A visit to this intriguing piece
of 20th century history is sure to be a winner with all the
family. Explore the warren of cellar rooms were Neville
Chamberlain, then more famously Winston Churchill planned the II
World War. Churchill actually worked in the War rooms as the
Germans were dropping bombs on London. You can explore all areas
including the sound proofed Cabinet room were some of World War
IIs major decisions were made.
All rooms have been left as near to they were when the war
ended, including period furniture.
A new museum dedicated to Winston
Churchill is to open at the Cabinet War Rooms in 2005. It will
form the core of an exciting expansion project at this once
secret underground wartime headquarters.
